Musicians’ Playground Policies
We are so convinced that you will love your experience at the Playground, that we are willing to provide you with a 100% refund if after your first lesson you are not feeling completely satisfied.
Private Lesson Protocol
Scheduling, rescheduling, and cancelling of lessons, is made easy through our studio’s online scheduling system. You will be given a unique username and password with which you’ll gain 24/7 access to the studio calendar and your lesson schedule. If for any reason you need to reschedule or cancel your lesson, please do so 24 hours or more in advance by calling 6176157663 or emailing email@example.com. If you do not reschedule or cancel within this time frame, you may be charged for the lesson/a lesson credit will be forfeited and you will receive no opportunity for a makeup. Makeup lessons are offered according to the availability of the studio and instructors, and must be made within the same term they are incurred. After this period, all credits will be null and void.
Group Lesson Protocol
If you are enrolling in group classes, you are expected to take a minimum of 9 classes each term, and payment for 12 classes is non-refundable. In the event of your scheduled lesson date falling on a major holiday or studio closing, you will be given the proper amount of makeup lessons before the end of that term. Should you need to miss a group class, please call 6176157663 or email firstname.lastname@example.org 24 hours or more in advance and you will have the option to apply your unused credit toward a private lesson (30 minute minimum for kids and 60 minute minimum for adults) OR attend a similar group class on another day and time if there’s one available. You can do this up to 3 times every term. If you fail to let us know and do not show up, you will not be granted a makeup lesson, and your credit will be forfeited. One month prior to the term’s end, you will be given an intention form where you opt to continue, discontinue, or change your current program. Upon the submission of your intention form, we are authorized to process payments to reserve your space in the program of your choice accordingly.
If you are ill, please do not come to your lesson! Musicians’ Playground strives to provide a safe, germ-free environment for all of its students, at all times, and allows its instructors to make the final decision as to whether a lesson should take place or not. If you are feeling ill less than 24 hours before your lesson, you reserve the right to cancel with no penalty up to 2 times every 6 months as long as notice is given 3 hours or more in advance. If you fail to let us know 3 hours or more in advance, and do not show up, you will not be granted a makeup lesson. If your instructor decides it is unsafe to teach you, he/she may reschedule/cancel your lesson with no penalty at any time.
If something unexpected comes up and prevents you from making your lesson, just give us a call and let us know. We understand these things happen and allow you 1 “emergency lesson” every 6 months for which you can notify us 3 hours or more in advance and you will still get a makeup lesson! Any notice less than 3 hours in advance does not qualify for an emergency lesson credit. If you fail to let us know and do not show up, you will not be granted a makeup lesson.
During inclement weather, lessons will go on as scheduled unless the City of Boston declares a state of emergency. If lessons need to be cancelled due to bad weather, we will provide times for the lessons to be made up either through the form of a master class, group class, or private lesson.
Upon starting your membership, you will prepay your first month. All subsequent months will be automatically charged to the credit card we have on file for you, on the first of each month. Late payments may result in additional charges as well as suspension of lessons. All past-due accounts will receive a courtesy email or phone call before this occurs. There may be additional fees charged throughout the year for masterclasses, special events, sheet music, or exclusive membership privileges.
When you enroll in a membership at Musicians’ Playground, you are allotted a certain amount of hours of lessons (either group, private, or both) each month. Generally, these hours are expected to be used 30 days within the date they are incurred, however, in the event lessons need to be made up, you may take up to the end of each term to utilize your unused credits. At the end of each term, all unused credits will be null and void and are non-refundable. The dates of the terms are as follows:
Winter Term: January 1st – March 31st
Spring Term: April 1st – June 30th
Summer Term: July 1st – September 30th
Fall Term: October 1st – December 31st
If at anytime you need to terminate your private lesson membership, you are allowed to do so by calling 6176157663 or by emailing email@example.com 30 days or more in advance of the date you wish to cancel. If you inform us of your need to cancel less than 30 days or more in advance, you will be billed for a subsequent month of lessons but have the option to utilize your credits toward any program by the end of the term. *Please note: Payment for 12 weeks of group classes is nonrefundable. You will be expected to utilize your unused credits for the total of the program by the end of the term.*
If you are going to be away for an extended period of time or need to discontinue lessons temporarily you also have the option to freeze your account for $25 a month. Freezing your account ensures your monthly payments will remain the same and space with your primary instructor will be reserved.
Arrival & Departure Protocol for Parents
When you arrive to the Piano Factory, you may be asked to sign in at the front desk. We ask that all members comply with this policy should you be asked to sign in by the concierge. Your child’s lesson will begin and end promptly according to his/her scheduled lesson time. If you are running late please call us. If your instructor is running behind schedule and has to cut the lesson time shorter, he/she will add that time to another lesson in the future. When bringing a student younger than 10 years old to his/her lesson, you are expected to accompany him/her all the way to and from the studio. Out of respect for our neighbors, we ask for all noise to be kept to a minimum in the hallways, and that children walk down the hallway at all times. All belongings including strollers and bikes must be brought into the studio. Under no circumstance should there be any belongings left in the common areas or should members gather in the hallways for extended periods of time. Once in the studio, please be courteous of lessons happening in the main room by refraining from talking on the phone or with other members loudly. For private lessons – you may choose to stay, however for all group lessons we ask that you leave for the allotted time and come back at the conclusion of the lesson to avoid overcrowding. For a list of local businesses and things to do in the South End of Boston just ask and we will happily provide that for you. There is also a lounge with computers and wifi located on the basement floor, and courtyard in the center of the Piano Factory that we encourage all members to take advantage of.
